VIT University Vellore came into existence in the year 1984 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 as Vellore Engineering College. It was a self-financing institution and later the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development gave university status in the year 2001.
The University is headed by Dr. G. Viswanathan former Parliamentarian & also the minister in Tamilnadu Government. He is also the founder of the institution. This man is honored doctorate by West Virginia University, USA for the service in offering a world-class education to India.
G. V. Selvam, Sekar Viswanathan & Sankar Viswanathan are the Vice-Presidents. Dr. Anand A. Samuel is the Vice-Chancellor & Dr. V. Raju & Dr. S. Narayanan are the Pro-Vice-Chancellors.
This institution offers around twenty undergraduate, thirty-four postgraduate, four integrated & four research programs in various domains. The university has campuses in Chennai & Vellore in Tamil Nadu, India. A 200-acre new campus located at Amaravati is under construction and very soon classes will be started here.

VIT University Vellore offers academic programs in Technology, Engineering, Applied Sciences, & Management. The VIT University main campus is in Vellore on 250 acres of land and is divided by the Bangalore Chennai railway line.
The academic block and the women’s hostel are to the south of railway tracks where as in the northern block there are the men’s hostels & the outdoor stadium. Both the regions are connected by 3 subways for easy movements of the students.
The campus is very good and it resembles a city with gardens, residential complexes, hair salons, lawns & food courts. The university is backed up with own electricity supply & water supply. It also has shopping complexes for the regular needs of the students.
Admissions for the academic year can be obtained with all the fee structure details for the courses offered. Management quota seats are available for direct admission.
Score of VITEEE 2016 is the only criteria to secure admission in VIT University. After confirmation & allotment of seat you have to make an advance payment of INR 50, 000 in form of DD in favor of “VIT University” payable at Vellore which includes INR 10,000 as counseling fee. Counseling will be held at Chennai & Vellore campus both for all B. Tech. courses. Candidate must have 50% marks in 10+2 with PCM
Candidate should have passed 10+2 or Equivalent in the relevant stream.
Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of qualifying degree examination merit. Candidate must have passed B.E/B. Tech in the relevant subject.
Graduation from recognized university with 60% marks and Valid score in CAT, MAT, XAT, GMAT, Group discussion and interview for shortlisting candidates from major cities of India.
